About Certification

This B Corp certification is undertaken by B Lab who are an independent, global, multi-stakeholder group with specific expertise in responsible and sustainable business and unlike other certifications, B Lab is unique in their ability to measure a company’s entire social and environmental impact.

The Impact assessment - which took us over two years - was rigorous, evaluating the company across five key areas: Governance, Workers, Environment, Customers and Community.

Using data from the previous 12 months, we were required to answer around 200 questions within the assessment, with responses verified by B Lab's independent Standards Team.

We reached the required accreditation score of 80 and then some – scoring 118.9. For comparison, the average score for a typical UK business is currently 50.9.

Thank yous

We’d like to thank some of those who were already B Corps for their help and advice in getting us to where we are today. Col would specifically like to thank Abb-d Taiyo from Driftime, Lucy Player from Made for the World and Jack De Wolf from Studio Republic for their support, advice and motivation to get our submission over the line.

We’d also like to personally thank Phil Clarke, the founder of Consciam Consulting for his wisdom and for helping us navigate some of the more complicated and intricate parts of our assessment, we could never have done it without you.

To those on the journey

It wouldn't be B Corp Month if we didn't also give props to those who are on their own journey to becoming a B Corp too. Great businesses and people that reflect the fantastic values of B Corp and who we’re sure won’t have a problem in certifying once they finalise their assessments.

We’d like to highlight Madeby.studio, neighbours of ours in Leeds who have a wonderful team and are really close with their own submission and Numiko, former employer of Col and a large influence on the business we are today; you’re just at the start of your own B Corp journey but you’ll be a fantastic addition once you get it over the line.

Gen B

So, here’s to all of the B Corps; let's celebrate B Corp Month and the movement to build an economy that benefits all people and the planet we share, because alone we are a business, but together we are a movement.

Alone we are a B Corp™. Together we are Gen B.

It’s B Corp™ Month: What it means and why it’s important
